GPD08 - Good People Day

by Jason Francis Hunter on April 3, 2008

Today is “Good People Day.”

I want to say thank you to all the good people out there who have made dreams come true. Not particularly mine, but everyones. We often get caught up with routine, tangled in gossip and pulled along for rides we never meant to take. But, every now and then, we remember what it’s really all about. Gratitude.

So, I want to give a huge shout out to all the good people that have recently touched my life, even if it was just a passing glance, an indirect word or an unknown effect. It makes a difference and it’s shaped who I am and who I will become. I am eternally grateful for that.

For starters, the man behind GPD08:

Gary Vaynerchuk - for being such an engaging and inspirational human being that you’re able to captivate this non-drinker enough to watch your wine show everyday. For caring about people first.

…and more, in random order:

Scott - for making me laugh uncontrollably. The humorous way you approach life reminds me to smile as much as I can.

Max - the cat that pisses on my door at least once a month. You have no idea how much I laugh at that when I’m alone.

Rudy - for being one of the first subscribers here and treating me like a friend you’ve known for years

Darren - for inspiring all of us to follow our passions and setting the standard us bloggers try to reach everyday.

Tammy - for always being there for me. You are my best friend and I’m proud of you beyond words.

Naomi - for being the lovely person that you are. Somehow you’re able to pull every emotion out of me in damn near every single post I read.

The woman that works at my gym - for always being there when I come in. I don’t even know your name but your smile is contagious.

Michael and Jeff - for being two of the coolest bosses I’ve ever worked for. I pay more attention to the way you run your business than you realize.

Brian - for helping the world communicate better — for being a wonderful coach.

Maki - for intellectual stimulation. You’ve taken a niche and wrapped it so tightly around your fist, that you’ve created an entirely new glove — one we all wish to wear.

TiRon - for being like a brother to me and more importantly, a friend. Your hard work is paying off and I can’t wait to see you in the spotlight.

Jon - for being an awesome designer, a kick ass musician and wonderfully delightful person.

Michael - for showing me what a remarkable blog consultant is all about. For doing great work and lending a helping hand to those who wish to have a voice.

The woman on the corner with the stop sign - for always saying good morning to me as I fly by on my bike.

James and Harry - for showing the world how powerful two minds can be (and two pens). You two work your asses off and are a testament to the fact that hard work does indeed blossom into success.

Leo - for being so dedicated. You’re the best of the best and I thank you for pushing the boundaries and encouraging others to join in and shape the future of media.

Steph - for being vulnerable, frank, brown-eyed and needy. The conversations are always delightful.

Robert - for dedicating your life to helping us become healthier and more vibrant.

Kidder, Lorax, Coochie and Laura - for reminding us that sex is fun and we should play with it. The responsible yet playful manner in which each topic is approached is incredible. Thanks.

Bert Monroy - for sharing your art with us. You are an incredibly dedicated artist and treasure to the art world for giving your time to helping others achieve their visions.

Alex, Dan and Jeff - for being rad. You have no idea how many days at work you have brightened for me.

Grace - for showing us the wonderful world of design. You help spread beauty in the world.

Lychee - for making my masturbatory sessions incredibly unique. The imagery you collect is beautiful.

Shauna - for sharing your love for good food. I’ve used many of your recipes. Your book is wonderful.

Brett, Melissa, Noah, Zakk, Michelle, Kelly, Dana, Sasha, Justin, Jay, Catherine, Rachel, Penny, Tiffany, Shey, Michael, Lisa, Amy, Robert, Nick

There are probably hundreds more. I’m exhausted and can’t go on. I do love you all, though.

Some Updates

Within the next few months the plan is to slowly shed the work/jobs that feel stagnant to me (this will eventually free up an extra 9 hours in my day), in order to focus more on the ones that excite and fascinate me. This blog is of the latter group. I hope you’ll forgive the inconsistent posting here for the time being. Slowly but surely I’ll be putting in more time, and I do have very exciting things planned. Enjoy GPD08!

Aw, very cool. I should post up a thing like this too - and I like that you included that lady on the street corner.

Good to know you, Jay. You taught me a thing or two about blogging and life. I’m glad to have you as a friend.

This GPD08 is actually a darn good idea, indeed. I’ve actually considered doing this every month to thank my top commentators. I just need that “creativity juice” flowing to incorporate it to a post.

Thanks Rudy. I recommend music, tea and a conversation with someone you love (your wife and children) to get the creative juices flowing.
